you may need to purchase sturdier bits and discs if you are working on heavy duty cutting and grinding but all of the comparison kits came with lightweight accessories too. It is compatible with multiple size inserts and didn't bog down like our cordless dremmel. also it came with a gaurd to do tile grout...awsome.

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present and she absolutely loves it. She crafts with glass and makes bead jewelry so it comes in handy. To buy the different tools individually would be cost prohibitive. Outstanding value.

Bought this for work, but am thinking about getting one for myself. It comes with all the assesories that you could need. All the extras alone would cost you a small fortune. Works great for the projects that we have at work and will work great for all my wood work projects at home. Can not beat the price.

Awesome value here. You can mount the case on the wall and have it completely out of your way. I've used it almost everyday at the body shop where I work. This kit could only be better if they made the mini grinder cordless. All of my c-workers want one now.

I didn't really need this tool when I purchased it, but have since found a lot of great uses. It's been fun figuring out what all the little parts do and it seems the kit includes everything I could possibly need... so far. I haven't used the little one yet, perhaps that would be for delicate work, not something I do much of.

I really enjoy having so many tools in one kit @ my fingertips. It is very helpful in doing jobs outside my barn. The one downside to this kit is that many of the 245 pieces got jumbled in delivery, and it took forever to figure out where everything fits.

Well, the tool and accessories worked great for a few months. But after having to change the accessories a few times the chuck lock stripped and no longer holds the chuck. So the tool is basically useless now since I can't change bits. Perhaps I was just unlucky. The case also broke apart after a short time (picture the open door right side no longer being attached). But I did give 2 stars because overall for the price and the amount of accessories included it's probably still worth the money.

What a great tool. At first I didn't think that I would like it but after using it, I find it far superior to (the other motor tool). With all of the features that it has with it I don't have to rig some way to hang it with all extras that come with it. I usually go thur one or two of these motor tools a year, but with this one I really don't think that will be an issue. Great tool for a great price.

Every home should have one of these tools. They are very useful, just about anything you can think of you can use it for. Simple to use, not very loud, very fast compared to using a piece of sandpaper or a file or even a hack saw. I would recomend if you are trying to decide on purchasing one, do, you won't be sorry.

I build a lot of different models, cars, boats, planes etc. and the Northern Rotary Tool that I recently purchased is one of the best investments I ever made. It is excellent for all the fine detail, and strong enough to do heavier drilling. I have had other rotary tools in the past but the Northern Rotary is far superior. I would recomend This tool to anyone who is looking for a quality tool.

I bought this tool and a bunch of accessories with the expectation of burning it up on a big job that I'm working on. I though about getting an expensive Dremel tool, but then thought, I'm just going to tear up that thing and its just not worth it. Well, I made the right move! This thing has the quality and durability of the high $$$ tool, but costs much less!
It comes with many tools and bits that cost a lot more with the other guys. The other guys bits work fine if you have some laying around too.
Again, I expected this thing to last just a little while and then die - Well I'm still using it and it is still going strong. Blow the dirt out of it, oil it and keep on going. This thing is great!!!

I was installing a set of French doors that have a metal outer cover. When I started installing the door knob the metal wraps within a 1/8" of the inside wood.
Could not figure out how to cut the metal to install the bolt and plate. Looked on Nothern Tools web site, found the Rotory Tool Kit (RP2145CK) drove to our new store in Sugarland, TX. Bought the tool and could have not been happer with the preformance and quality. This tool let me make a precision cut to install the metal stricker plates and bolt.

Purchased this item a few months ago. Comes with a lot of accessories and to start with seemed to work fine. After a while the plastic button that holds the shaft to allow you to tighten the collet stopped working. Could not tighten the collet on the the tools and made it virtually useless. Still using all the accessories with a new tool, with a metal pin for holding the spindle.

This tool compares very well to a Dremem tool. The kit comes complete with everything you would need to do on a small scale. The flexible cable is very handy which I use most of the time. If anyone is interested in a real-deal for their moneys' worth, then THIS KIT IS THE ONE! Like several others have commented, the accessories, tools, and carry-case alone are worth the price paid! I've seen the 110-volt roto-tool ALONE sell for about TWICE the price of this entire set! Most of all, don't let the "house-brand" label fool ya' on this deal---it's MORE than sufficient quality for the purpose intended! As a retired machinist, I can honestly vouch for this deal!

This kit is well worth the price. Compare it to a name brand similar type and you wont get anything close in included accessories. We have purchased two of these kits for our shop. We use them for cutting metal, rubber, and various projects around our shop.

This is quite a deal. The two tools have plenty of power, and look well made. The accessory stones and cutoffs are probably worth he price of the kit without the tools.
The flexible shaft is something I probably would never buy as a separate item, but since it's there, I'll use it. It works well. There is a router-like guide in the kit which I haven't tried yet, but could be very helpful. I'm a happy camper on this one.

This kit is a good purchase for the value. You have to realize you're not paying top price, so in turn, you are getting a good tool set for your average home shop jobs. The large tool has a good range of speeds and you get a lot of accessories that stay in their holders well.
It seems that most of the accessories utilize the 1/8 collet, but unfortunately there's only 1/8 collet available. What would be nice would be to have two available so the small tool could be fitted with an optional attachment so you could go back and forth between the tools quickly for finishing touches.
I do recommend this kit for your average jobs.

I purchased this as a gift for my Brother, When it arived I opened it , Just to check it. Wellll this is the second time I did this. I KEPT IT and went out and got something else for my Brother. Product came in nice storage box, tool is very handy, price is right. I like the hanger for the rotary tool. Switch broke the second time I used it. Replacement was easy and this one appears to work fine.

Variable speed is good. I use for carving decoys. Not sure about the flexible shaft yet. I will have to use it a little more. Would buy again!

I ordered this rotary tool not expecting much. I have been pleasently suprised by the large number of different attachments and how secure each item is stored.
The self storing case is compact and can be stored in a small space when not in use. The rotary tool is fairly quite and easy to hold. For smaller detail work, a hanger is included for the motor along with a long shaft. There is good flexability in the shaft that allows for slight movements you may need in your detailing work. I have not had this tool long, but so far it has proven it self. For the price you can't go wrong.

The larger Rotary tool seems to have good power and with it you can do many things like sharpen tools and finely grind most materials. The smaller rotary tool will get into tiny spaces which you could not normally get into.

One thing that would have been nice for the tool kit is to have 1-2 more 1/8" collets since most of the tools use this size collet but there is only one.
