Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

When ground beef prices were very high, a local grocery ran a special on boneless chuck roast. I bought 30 lbs. of that and cut out most of the fat. Then ground the meat in the meat grinder for a VERY Lean ground beef at $1.99 per pound. It is so lean, that I need to use oil in the pan when I fry the burgers, and they taste fantastic. Only drawback is the blade, etc. will rust if not re-treated with oil before storing. Easy to do but a bit of a nuisance.

This is a great product . My wife and I have been grinding our meat for over 35 years. I can't even tell you how many grinders we have been through, but at least 10. This one works the best , it has a powerfull motor ,quality attachments and it is really quite . If it has my wife's approval ,you can feel assured it is all they say it is. Also the self contained storage for attachments is a real plus. On a scale of 1 to 10 this scores a 15.

I bought this grinder to make sausage and it was fantastic. It is powerful, not to noisey, easy to clean and was fast. I ground 20 lbs. of pork in about 10 minutes. The sausage tubes were easy to use and the speed at which the casing filled was not too fast to handle. I definitely recommend this product!

We used this and could not believe how easy it was...clean up was a breeze, provided loads of sausages, all types, great, sturdy machine, fantastic price for the quality!

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

I am always sceptical about a product that appears to be worth more than what it is sold for. This grinder is well worth the money. The motor is powerful enough to do what you want. I have used it to grind several hundred pounds of beef, rabbit , and chicken. When you are done grinding throw the parts in the dishwasher, wipe down the unit and you are DONE in a fraction of the time it takes to use a hand crank grinder, I have the 5 lb. sausage stuffer and the mixer also.

I would recommend this unit to anyone. It has made it very cost effective to make ground meat. I usually get beef and pork grind them together add seasonings and cheese, bacon, whatever I can think of , then vacuum seal them and freeze them. MAKES AWESOME Burgers!!! I have never used a meat grinder but have always wanted to make my own pork pan sausage and link deer sausage. This grinder is awesome. Not hard to operate, simple to assemble/ disassemble, and comes with all the parts you need to make great sausage. The directions are a little unclear on the correct way to assemble the cutter, but thanks to the reviews I read before purchase, I had no problems putting it all together. Thanks Northern for a great product.

I found this a very user friendly product to work with. This grinder way exceeded my expectations as the price is very reasonable. We grind whole chicken wings, bone and all, for our dogs. The machine just eats them up! Bigger bones like legs put a strain on it but it will grind legs as well. I don't know if the literature stated that the aluminum parts should not be placed in the dishwasher but I would not recommend it, if you care about the finish.

I retired my old smaller electric grinder for this one. It ground the meat for my Keilbasa almost as fast as I could feed the machine! I didn't time it but it ground 10 pounds of pork in about 3 minutes. Another company in Bellingham, WA sells the same grinder at a higher cost and has better instructions which I downloaded and printed.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

I was really looking for a product that can handle the grinding of soaked beans to make Falafel (a Middle Eastern and also Jewish food). I tried a couple of famous names but they were not up to this tough job. Although beans were soaked for 24 hours in water, they were not really that soft like meat. That is why those other machines could not really do the job and I had to use the reverse button a lot.

With the Northern Industrial Meat Grinder, I was able to do about 6 pounds of beans mixed with about 4 pounds of other vegetables in less than 1 hour. I actually passed that stuff two times through the grinder to get it smoother. As an Engineer, I was impressed with the quality and safety of this product. Again, it is meant for home use.

I believe it is an excellent addition to your home kitchen at a bargain price.

It was very easy to clean the machine without two much hassle.

If you are looking for a home grinder for meat or vegetables, this is the one.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

The grinder works pretty well, however can't handle very big pieces of anything without blowing the circuit breaker (Large hole plate helps tremendously with this). I was disappointed to see how much of the construction was plastic - but for the price I guess I can't complain. It is fairly light weight and easy to put in a box on and off the shelf. I'm not sorry I bought it. For the price it's a pretty good value!

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

Purchased the grinder about 3 months ago primarily for making sausage. I have used it several times and found it to do a solid job getting through what I need done. Here are several high level points:

++++
* Construction - solid..I especially like the entire grinding assembly

* Ease of cleaning - Very good...It takes only a few minutes to totally clean after use

------
* Stuffing tubes are very light duty; I use my 5lb sausage stuffer instead to avoid "mushing" the meat when you use a grinder and its tubes.

* Although it's power is adequate for my use, I do notice some load when grinding a modest amount of meat. I only grind <10lbs per use and only pork butt/picnics. I would expect game meats would put a higher load on the grinder if you don't try to force the meat through, you shouldn't experience any problems.

Recommendation: Try to pick it up when it goes on sale and you'll save a couple of $$ which improves the "Value for the $$" factor even more!

I've had this grinder for one day and I must say it is a great product. It has plenty of power, runs fairly quiet, it's well designed and is offered at a good price. The only negative I can see is a very bad instruction manual. (Pictures would be better). One must remember that the blades flat side must go towards the cutting plate; everything will be just fine.
Kudus for Northern carrying the product!

I use this grinder to grind chicken necks and backs for our purebred dogs that we get from a local pasture raised chicken farm. I have even ground a few thighs and legs bone and all with no problems at all. Can't wait to try it on deer this fall for us, won't be grinding that for the dogs. This is a very good grinder for the money.

I unpacked, assembled, and just turned this product on to deliver my rating . By my Internet research of meat grinders, I can tell you, just from the type of construction, parts and the sound this product has to offer, it is the best meat grinder on the market for this price range. Used properly, is product should last for years. I thank you for the design and engineering put into this product. Good job. I will definitely enjoy using this product in the years to come.....Only a thought, replace the Aluminum parts with stainless steel and increase the difference in the price for stainless. That's the only way to one could improve on this product. You could have two models for people with different price budgets. Thank you.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

Surprisingly powerful grinder. Most smaller inexpensive grinders cannot handle the rigors of wild game like sheep, mountain goat, and elk. However this inexpensive unit has processed dozens of tough game animals over the past several years. I have replaced the blades once. I have recommended this product to friends and they have also been pleased with it's performance. When this one finally burns out, I will most likely purchase the same brand and save hundreds of dollars. My one complaint is the metal tends to oxidize and I need to make sure the bin and grinder sleeve is very dry before storage.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

My two Golden Retrievers get a home cooked diet and I previously used the grinding attachment on my Standing Mixer, but found that it got very hot, in a short amount of time and it didn't do a very good job.... This Grinder has been incredible. Just last week, it took me less than 15 minutes to grind 20 lbs of chicken. Took me longer to prep the meat than it did to grind it... (prep was for my personal needs, omitting most of the fat & bones). The grinder fed the meat through so quickly that I could barely keep up with it. It practically feeds the meat through on it's own! I've had this grinder for over a year now & am completely satisfied with it's performance.

I bought this electric machine because I am getting older and don't need the hassle of struggling with the hand crank style of grinder and stuffer. What a blessing this machine is. It grinds the meat and stuffs the sausage very easily. It cleans up easuily as well. We use it several times a year for making fresh Polish sauasage. This is an arm saver!

I bought this with venison processing in mind and I got the opportunity to use it within weeks of buying it. This grinder is perfect for the sportsman who wants to process his own meat. It will grind the meat literally as fast as you can feed it. It has plenty of power and did exactly what it was intended to do. If the scrap meat is cut into strips that can feed throught the tray without having to force it, you can grind up an entire deer in only a few minutes. I am still eating the sausage produced and look forward to using it again next season.

This machine is every bit as advertised and then some!! Grinds effortlessly, if you make a mistake and over fill it, you can stop, reverse it for a few seconds, and start in grinding again with ease and no taking it appart, cleaning it out by hand and starting over again. Cleans up in a snap. It deserves more than 5 stars in my book.. For the low price compared to commercial machines, it is truly a bargain and money well spent..

This grinder is awesome!!!!! Heavy duty construction. I thought that for the price i was going to get something that was just ok had looked at a lot of other grinders in the same price range. But when i opened the box and saw how heavy duty it was i was very happy. It grinds meat very fast and efficient. If I have one compliant is that the sausage stuffer part of the grinder does not work very well. So I'm going to buy a tube stuffer and use that in combination with the grinder.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

What a fantastic product from home use! Used it to make wild boar sausage and had zero problems with ligaments or other skin/fat - nicely ground. I cut the meat into 1-1 1/2" cubes that the machine ground at a rate of 1 kilogram (2.2 lbs) in about three minutes - was surprised how fast and effectively it worked. Dissassembly and washing were a snap and the shipping box makes a handy storage/protection box. It takes up very little counterspace when working and the metal feed tray is a plus. The operating instructions were simple and easy to use; especially with the callout diagram.

Minor comments for the 4 out 5 rating: (1) the little storage compartment is nice, but feels like very cheap plastic; (2) it runs a little loud, but not too much more than any standard mixer or blender; and (3) only other improvement would be metal vs. plastic sausage feeder tubes.

Overall, this is a great product and especially for the price. If you are looking for your first grinder, I highly recommend this product.

got all the information we could to make the right decision, unable to look at the grinder for comparison, finally decided on the Northern electric grinder. When opened the box we were suprised at the size and the quality of the unit. We got to grinding some pork/deer sausage the next day, made about 25 pounds of sausage in about one hour, our first try. Some of the deer meat was still slightly frozen but the grinder went through it with no strain. Clean up time included. Really pleased with the grinder and would recommend. Ordered a second grinder for a friend which arrived about 2 weeks later with a catalog showing the grinder at a lower price. After contacting Northern we were given credit on both grinders. Thanks Northern

I NEVER write testimonials, but I was compelled to in this instance because this is one of the best things I ever bought. It must be the Mercedes of meat grinders! It's so solid, well built and powerful. The fit, finish and materials are superb. It's really simple to use and comes apart easily for quick cleaning. We grind top sirloin for our dog and what used to be a half hour ordeal with a hand grinder now takes about one minute. It's fun to use!

I have been grinding meat as a hobby for about 5 years. I have only owned one other grinder which was slow and long and bogged down a lot. I make a lot of sausage and this grinder will grind as fast as you can feed it in the hopper. I had no bog down on the motor and it was almost too fast for one person to keep up with.when making sausage. Accessories are good for sausage and all types of grinding. For the money you can not beat this grinder. Compares to many priced much higher.

We also use it for pork and beef, as well. We have used it to make make sauage too. We have no complaint with the unit. We have convenced seveal friends to buy this product, and they too have loved it. All in all we have over the years probably proccess a ton of meat with no complaint. You just have to keep the hard fat trimed off the deer or you will clog the blade. If you need a grinder this is a great one. When the times comes for a new grinder we will be ordering this one again.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

Bought this one after processing an Elk with a grinder that was a multi tool attachment to a food processor. The old set up was s-l-o-w and I promissed my wife that we would get a new grinder if she was up to helping me process. She did a lot of the work and I could tell that if we were to continue doing our own meat we would need a dedicated grinder.
I shopped and reviewed all I could find online before thinking (at the price) that this grinder would be a good starter tool. Well my wife has used it to process my Deer meat and she was way impressed with how much faster and easier it is from the old one.
We see no need to have anything bigger or more expensive given we will only need it to make beef burger and process our wild big game meats.
Cleans up super easy as well.

If your looking for a grinder that can grind a lot of meat and last this is not the grinder.
I think this grinder went through aprox. 10 pounds of venison before starting to slip.

this grinder still does ok for light grinding, but slips when it comes across sinew.

I purchased this grinder for home use to process deer. It works great, and paid for itself the first time we used it. We processed two deer in minimum time. A savings of at least $100 that a processer would have charged.
Tip for your grinding, purchase a box of bacon-end pieces and use about about a 90% deer meat / 10% bacon ratio. Makes great burgers.
Would recommend this grinder to anyone that wants to do any meat processing at home.

This grinder is just what the doctor (vet) ordered. My dog is on the BARF (Bones And Raw Food) diet. I grind all of his meats, including beef, bison, duck, chicken bones, necks and backs, and turkey necks, with ease. I like the choice of three grinding plates and generally use the coarse one for the bones. It does a great job on hard root veggies too. It is very stable on the counter and assembles and disassembles easily for cleaning and storage. I can grind up a months worth of BARF goodies in no time. With this grinder, I'm a happy camper.

For an avid hunter and backyard meat grower this grinder meets all my needs. I had a smaller grinder that required frequent cleanings just to get through a ten pound grind. Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

This is a great meat grinder for the money. It grinds my deer meat as fast as they say it will. I'm not even careful to remove all of the tendons anymore, because it handles them with ease and I've never had to to dismantle it to remove a clog during grinding. I've never even had to use the reverse. I've made summer sausage, smoked sausage, hamburger and pan sausage using the grinder. A friend of mine has an $800 commercial grinder and it's nearly as fast as it is. I was a little skeptical when I bought it, but it's everything they promised. The only negative I have is that the grinding plates rust very quickly after washing, so be sure to coat them in vegetable oil and wrap them in a cloth or paper towel for storage.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

Works fine, a litle bit noisy for an apartment. The sausage attachements are not that great, stuffing sausage with the smallest attachement it is a challenge.
The same goes for when stuffing sausages, the width of the neck of the grinder it is small, so when stuffing meat down the chute into the neck it is very hard to get the meat to slide in due to air entrapment, and too small of a neck so the air can not come out while you push the meat in.
Not a great sausage stuffer but a reasonable grinder, more suited for people that grind game meat, with the coarse or medium plate.
By the way , all the metal plates that came with the product came well rusted.

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

I process over 200 lbs of de-boned meat each year and this grinder is the best of my research and test experience over the years. For the low price, it still has the great features of all metal tube, hopper, blade, shaft, and end cap, in addition to metal drive gears. Plus, it has the power (.8hp compared to typical .5 hp or less at this price) to grind tough meat like large animal shanks without stalling or breaking any parts.
In other grinders, I had to either manually cut tough pieces to small segments and feed then in very slowly. For several grinders that did not have metal end caps, they would fracture or the grinder cap was metal yet lacked the needed power. You cannot beat the price Northern Tool provides for this effective grinder with all metal operating parts plus the needed power, 3 sizes of cutting plates, and sausage stuffer attachments.

Bought this grinder to process venison. It works too good. With one man grinding and two more cutting we still can't keep up with it. We started out double grinding but found that it does a good enough job with a single grind with the small screen. We processed 5 deer with it and it never slowed. I believe this thing could grind up wood if you put it in it (something I don't reccommend). I can't say enough about it other than it really is a great grinder.

After yet another fight with my previous so-called "professional" grinder, I spent hours online looking for the best grinder for the best price. This one far and away had the best reviews, and definitely the best price - less than my previous grinder!
I just got done grinding 20lbs of venison meat, and am waiting for the other 150+lbs to thaw to grind (I had to stop when I was processing because the "old" one wouldn't grind anymore, needed to freeze all that cut up meat til I got a new grinder). The meat I ground is excellent texture, and the unit ground it as fast as I could put it in - most of the time I didn't even have to use the "pusher" - it just grabbed and ground the meat immediately.
I would HIGHLY recommend this for any hunter or home processor. This unit is 100 times better than those other $100 units. If you have a hunter in your life, and they are thinking about home processing, get them this grinder!

I purchased this grinder/stuffer to be used for our recent deer season. Processing costs have been rising steeply to match other things. I saved the cost of the grinder with the deer I processed at home this year. It is more powerful and better constructed than other grinders I have found for the same price. Use and clean-up are very easy. I will be putting it to further use soon making my own summer sausage and snack sticks.
Combine the ease of use and cleaning with a very powerful grinder that never bogs down, and you can't go wrong with this one. Thank you Northern!!!!

I thought about buying an expensive stainless steel grinder. I did not want to pay 3 to 4 hundred dollars on something that I am only going to use in the fall to grind up venison. I wanted a grinder that was going to work good as well. I probably would not have bought this grinder but the reviews made it sound like it was worth a shot. I'm glad I listen to the reviews because this machine worked like a charm. We ground up about 40 pounds of venison in about 20 minutes with no problem at all. Clean up was a breeze and I coated the blades with vegetable oil like someone recommended and put it away for next years use.

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this grinder. For the money I didn't find anything else that would compare to this model. The unit functioned perfectly and took the meat as fast as I shoved it in. Not at any time did the motor "labor" under load.

This product is built very well and should last a lifetime if cared for properly. The grinder worked great when the meat was in the bulk stage. However, when resubmitted for a finer texture, the machine did not push the meat out easily. The second time around, it had to be force fed or pushed. I would have thought with the screw, it would have moved the processed meat the second time around as easily as the first time. My suggestion would be to use as fine a die as you can the first time. The motor is plenty powerful for the average home use consumer. I found that all the meats I used were ground without effort.

Great little grinder. I have used this grinder to process more than a dozen deer over the years. I usually grind the scrap, mixed with either pork or beef fat, into burger meat. I run the mixture through the grinder twice using the large wheel to get a good thorough mixture. It does a great job and is a terrific value.

I bought this for my husband, a hunter, for his birthday. He was very pleased with the entire machine. We used it immediately to make duck pepper sticks. The machine worked well and at a good pace for making the pepper sticks. We plan on making sausages in the future.

The only complaint that my husband had was that the meat grinder's user instructions are poor and even a little wrong. Other than that, the meat grinder has been a complete success.

...the instructions for use are pretty bad. I actually had the cutting blade backwards for several uses because the illustration looked like it was supposed to be placed that way. I was ready to return the grinder because it was basically liquifying the meat. Ick. As a last resort I finally turned the blade the other direction and now it's great!
Also, when I received the shipment, the box hadn't been taped shut, which could have meant parts might be missing.
Now that I'm using it correctly, it's doing a fine job. I'm using it for raw dog food.

purchased this grinder in august and have so far ground up some of last years elk & deer for jerkys, some pork w/fat for sausages and about a week ago my husband brought home an antelope that I ground up entirely. This grinder does the job without any hesitation or jamming, even the completely defrosted pork with fat went through without any effort. today elk season opened and I sure hope to put the grinder to use again.
This grinder is a little workhorse at a great price !

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

I purchased this grinder to make raw dog food my dogs. I was amazed at the speed and efficiency of the unit. Vegetables are a snap, just cut into chunk and, in minutes, you have "veggie goo" ready to be frozen or mixed with meat. The grinder handled an entire chicken (minus the leg bones) without a problem.
After hearing horror stories about cleaning meat grinders, I was amazed at how easy it was to clean. The grinder comes apart easily and then it just a matter of rinsing off the loose food and giving the parts a thoroughly washing. I never realized how easy it would be to feed my dogs a healthy, natural diet.

I have been grinding steak into hamburger patties for >30 yrs. We usually buy steak in 30 lb. amounts. Cut out all the gristle, leave a small amt of fat & grind away. This product has incredible speed of grind. I can do 10 lbs in 3-4 minutes. My other grinder was a bit smaller, but still the power on this & ease of cleaning is magical. There is no other meat grinder in this class for this price. I researched for 3 months. THis product is AA++.

I feed a raw diet to my dogs. I grind on average 266 pounds of chicken necks, beef liver, beef heart, and vegetables every 3 weeks for my dogs. I was not sure this model of grinder would be strong enough to do the job. It has totally surpassed my expectations. It never binds up, never overheats, cleans up in minutes. The parts go on and off with no effort. I am thrilled with my purchase.

I would recommend this product to anyone who asks. Thanks Northern Tools!

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

For the price, this is a dandy grinder...much better then our mixmaster attachment, which really had to struggle..

As for our first grinding experience, my wife tried it out without reading, to my knowledge, any instructions. She has ground meat before, so assumed she knew how to operate it. She did have quite a bit of difficulty with membrane jamming, but never mentioned trying the jam/reverse switch covered in the operator's manual.. That could have helped some.

When I finally tried it for myself, I found that it is critical to really tighten the retainer ring in order to prevent jamming. The instructions don't tell you how important this is, but do demonstrate doing this with the shaft of a screw driver between the ring's fins.. I found that lightly tapping the fins with a hammer did the job quite easily. Once tightened, I had no jamming whatsoever.

It has good power to do realtively large jobs, and it disassembles for cleaning very easily.

My only criticism would be in the operator's manual, which probably was translated from Chinese by a non-native English speaker. It trys to rely mostly on tiny pictures, which in this case are NOT worth a thousand words. Since I am a meat grinding novice, I needed the words.

The manual also does not include a replacement parts ordering option, nor does it give any contact information for the manufacturer or tech support. It would appear that if you break something, you're just out of luck. But, at this price, it's probably worth the risk. Cabela's similar 400-watt grinder goes for $100.

I bought this meat grinder to grind whole chicken, including the bones, to make raw cat food for my cats and have done so with no problem. It works great and is easy to use. According to the manual, bleach discolors the metal parts, so I refrain from using bleach, but I have washed the parts in the dishwasher to sanitze them with no problem. Make sure you dry the metal components well and rub them with mineral or vegetable oil to keep them rust-free. The machine is noisy, but I guess all meat grinders are. It's not too large and looks fine in my kitchen. I plan to use it also to ground beef. This reduces bacterial contamination as well as the risk of Mad Cow disease (since you can be sure that nerve tissue is not included). The product was shipped super-fast. I would recommend the grinder as well as doing business with this company.

All I can say about this product is that it should be rated like a 8 out of the 5 stars. I was so very pleased with this item. Everyone told me before i purchased this item, and I quote "You get what you pay for". Well, I should have payed a lot more for this item. I don't think I have ever been more pleased with an item I have purchased before. I will not be afraid to purchase any other item from Northern Tool and I have told all my friends about it. I ma planning on purchasing more items. Why should you pay the higher brand names, I know people that have purchased, supposedly a higher quality item from a brand name competitor and had nothing but problems with them. I'm not worried about the return policy, simply because i know it will not have to happen !! Overall I am so very pleased with my purchase and nothing bad at all to say about this product or company!!!

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

The meat grinder has worked very well for me, better than I expected for the cost of the unit compared to other models I evaluated. I bought it as an interim solution until I could get a larger HP unit, but am thinking now I won't need it. I was very surprised how quickly it ground a deer without cutting it into small pieces, as i'd had to do previously with a comparably priced unit. I also didn't have any problems with it clogging with connective tissue or tendon-surprisingly as I just ran the meat through to give it a good test. It didn't even slow down. The cutter was clean when done, unlike others I had to clean out several times while processing a deer. It is also an unusual cutter blade, shaped like a propellor pushing the meat towards the cutting disk, unlike others that were just a flat knife. It saved alot of time and aggravation. I never got a chance to try to reversing switch as it wasn't needed, but if/when it will be good. The storage area that allows keeping the parts with the unit was something I really like too. Cord storage was nice too. A great value, I would highly recommend.

Got the grinder in November and have used it on three deer. A friend of mine told me all about it. I really throught I needed a larger grinder than this one and I vooked at several bigger ones for a lot more money. I findly decided to try it, because I figured I wouldn't be out too much money if it was junk, so now I'm bragging on it. All I can say is that it's well worth the money and I was pleasently surprised .

Loved this electric meat grinder! Bought it for my fiance for Christmas & we used it right away. It was very easy to use & quick! We used it for ground venison & sausage. The only thing that could be improved on was the directions for stuffing the sausage. We had never done that before so it took a while to figure out. Other than that, it was a breeze. I would recommend it to any hunter.

I purchased this grinder in January 2007 and used it this weekend. I ground 30 lbs of deer and 15 lbs of pork for bologna sausage. The pork had alot of fat and while feeding the grinder never slowed down at all. I ground coarse the first time in about 20 minutes then changed plates to fine grind and about the same 20 minutes. The grinder is very easy to take apart and clean. I dried each part and put a light coating of vegetable oil on the dics and wrapped in wax paper for the next use so they would not rust. This is an excellant grinder for the price and next weekend I am going to make 50 lbs of hot stix and looking forward to this. I would highly recommend this grinder to anyone who makes their own sausage or hamburger.

A Great Grinder/Stuffer

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

I did a great deal of research before selecting this grinder. Suffice it to say, this is a great product at a great price and I have found no others that come close in quality in this price range. My Grinder/Sausage Stuffer came with 3 stuffing tubes while the product specs listed only one ( pleasant surprise). I use it primarily for grinding and stuffing all types of sausage. It is a superior product with all metal food contact parts. The "ON" switch can also be "pulsed" by pushing it in partway, an important feature when stuffing sausage. All the critical parts can be easily removed for cleaning (and boiling) if you sterilize the unit after using (which you should).

The only improvement that could possibly be made is not with the product, but with the instruction manual. The manual instructs you to remove the grinder plate and cutter when installing the stuffing tube for stuffing sausage. This will not work as the grinder plate also serves as the front bearing surface for the auger. When removed, the auger is not supported at the front and will work its way out from the motor housing connection socket. (no big deal as it comes out for cleaning anyway, but you can't stuff sauges in this configuration). So, I put the grinder plate and blade back in, then put on the stuffing tube and "wala", it worked like a charm. So if you choose, grind and stuff in one operation. If you choose not to do it this way, put in the larger grinding plate when you get ready to stuff so you don't get a "double grind" that is finer than you desire!

I can't say enough good about this machine. It is heavier duty than any I have found in this price range, has a powerful motor and the grinding disks (3 sizes come with the machine) and cutter blade appear to be made from tool steel. The auger, collar, auger housing, and meat tray are all cast aluminum. It has built in cord storage and wieghs more than you would expect. Kudos to Northern Tool, they scored a winner with this product!

I struggled for 3 years to grind my venison with an attachment type grinder for a very major (expensive) electric mixer. I struggle no more. And because I struggle no more with this superb grinder from Northern, I prepare more venison for sausage, snack sticks, burgers, stuffed cabbage, etc, than I ever have before. In fact I have bought two new game cook books to garner yet more recipes for ground venison! This machine is over-engineered, powerful and fast enough to satisfy anyone processing meat at the recreational level. Buy one! You won't be sorry. Might want to do it today, because all my buddies are ordering one for themselves, too!.

Great product, although they now show it as being rated at 600 watts, which is must be, as 1000 watts would not perform in the same manner. It will sieze up (and trip the internal breaker) if you grind big pieces of tough pork skin, but pressing the reverse a few seconds will free up the jam and it usually goes well again. Have used it more than 3 years now, with more than 400 pounds of beef and pork, with no problems yet. Also bought some additional #10 cutting disks from another source, that will cut bigger meat chunks, one of which has 1/2 inch holes, while the other is even courser with just four openings.

I received this unit this week and used it last night to make 10 pounds of venison sausage. Setup was very quick and easy. It grinds in three different sizes and comes with sausage stuffers, which I hope to use in the future.

Initally, it took 30 minutes and two unjams to grind 1.5 pounds of pork and I was quite mad at myself for spending the money. Then I realized I had the cutting blade in backwards. After turning the blade, it made very short work of the rest of the meat. In fact, it ground as fast as I could feed it without a hint of a jam.

Nice unit, especially for the price. The sausage is delicious!

Comments about Kotulas Electric Meat Grinder - 1000 Watts of Power:

My good friend and hunting buddy recently used my newly purchased grinder to process meat from two deer we took during the high power season here in MO. We ground a little over 60 pounds of venison in a little over 20 minutes. Last year with a hand grinder it took well over two hours to grind a comprable amount of meat. The grinder preformed flaulessly. It never strained no matter how fast we were pushing the meat into it, and the strainer never clogged. The three strainers along with the metal pan, and grinding head make this a very versitile product. Clean up was easy, just put all of the moving parts in the dish washer. I would recommend that the steel strainer head be removed after the wash cycle and hand dried then coated with some oil to prevent rusting.
P.S. My friend was so impressed with the performance of my grinder, he has asked me to order one for him. .

When I ordered this meat grinder, I had no idea of the quality of product I would receive. I could'nt have been more pleased with my order. The grinder is heavy duty and does seem as it is commercial quality as advertised. It is far more than we had expected for the price. The majority of the atachments are very heavy duty metal as well as the auger inside. I have seen the same grinder listed for several hundred dollars in other retail sites. It is not often during this day and age that you get such a nice surprise by receiving such a good quality product at such a value. Thank-you Northern for giving my family the opportunity to spend our money in such an efficient way. This product has been put to good use and we are extremely pleased. Thanks once again.
