Slacklining is balancing along a narrow, flexible piece of webbing, usually low to the ground. Originating in the climbing world, slacklining began in Yosemite during the mid seventies. Climbers would camp there and in their time on the ground they started rigging lines to walk across. The "slack" in a slackline, as compared to the taut steel cable of a tightrope, makes it possible to bounce and do tricks. Slacklining also improves core strength, balance and movement. The physical benefits of slacklining are used for cross training, team-building exercises, injury prevention and fine motor skill improvement. Slacklining is more than a backyard activity, as it is now incorporated into schools, gyms, sport-specific training facilities and rehabilitation clinics nationwide. The 2in. webbing and ratchet tensioning design make the Gibbon line friendly to walk on and easy to set up. No additional tools or rigging are needed; just the kit and a couple of trees (at least 1in. in dia.) and you're ready to go.
